Chores are part of our daily existence. They are the necessary evil that needs to get done. If you leave some for tomorrow, it will just stack up with more chores… like the never-ending stack of dirty dishes. We all have 24 hours to get everything done, but chores can sometimes take out a huge chunk of it. Luckily, there are hacks to save your day! From cleaning to getting wrinkles out of clothes. There are so many everyday tasks that can be done faster.
Let’s look at 8 such hacks to make your life easier:
1. Wrinkle-free with ice cubes– Forget ironing or steaming your clothes. An even easier way to get rid of wrinkles from your shirts requires ice cubes. Take a few ice cubes and put them in the dryer with a couple of light clothing items. Turn the dryer on at the hottest setting. The ice will melt and steam up, softening the wrinkles on your shirt within 10 minutes. This doesn’t work on thicker or heavier clothing items though.
2. Multi-purpose vinegar– Not only can you concoct amazing salad dressings with vinegar and lose weight with apple cider vinegar shots, but it’s also a great cleaning agent. Cloudy glasses? Dirty faucets or showerheads? Stained kitchen or bathroom counters? No problem! Everything can be wiped clean with white vinegar. You don’t have to spend hours scrubbing with soap anymore.
3. Pick shards with bread– Shattered glass can be a nuisance, but also dangerous if there are kids around. Picking up the smaller pieces can be a pain. Solution? Bread. Soak a piece of it in a little bit of water and then press it on the area that contains the small pieces of broken glass. It will stick to the bread and you won’t risk getting your fingers cut.
4. Blend to clean– Blenders are wonderful, but can be a pain to clean. You have to disassemble them and clean the blade with your bare hands, carefully making sure you don’t cut your fingers. No need to do that anymore. Pour some hot water into the blender, along with some liquid soap. Then turn the blender on. The entire residue stuck to the blade will mix with the liquid, which you can then just rinse out.
5. Use lemon for microwave- Food spills are an inevitable side effect of microwaving your food. But, cleaning it after every use can be a chore (pun intended!). Hack? Squeeze out lemon juice into a bowl and drop the wedges in. Then pop that into the microwave and turn it on for 3 minutes. The juice will boil and steam up the microwave. Once that’s done, take a clean rag and wipe down the inside. The scent of the lemon will also clean up any lingering odor.
6. Make your buttons stay on- We have all done it. We go to put on our favorite shirt or cardigan but are just a little rough with it, and that’s all it needs for the button to break from the seam and fall out. Then you have to worry about finding the button and sewing it on. Sometimes you just don’t have time for that. Take a clear nail polish and apply the paint over the exposed threads on the button. This will keep it stay in place and lower its risk of coming off. Since its clear nail polish, there is no risk of staining the fabric.
7. Make your shoes waterproof- Rainy days are great to cool down the weather, but it can be annoying when it comes to shoes. The soles soak the water right up. There are waterproof shoes, but those can get expensive. The good news is that there is something you can do to convert any of your favorite sneakers into waterproof shoes. All you need is beeswax. Spread it everywhere on your shoes and then use a blow dryer to melt it. Bam! Waterproof shoes. Prep the shoes by cleaning them with baby wipes, so you can start with a clean slate. This trick can be used on outdoor pillows, canvas totes, and even seat covers.
8. Eliminate body odor with citrus– Have you run out of deodorant or accidentally forgotten it? Maybe you are allergic to the harsh chemicals in deodorant? Don’t worry, there’s a way to naturally stay smelling fresh and clean all day. Take half of a lemon or orange and rub it all over your skin. The odor will disappear. If you have apple cider vinegar, you can use that under your arms.
Sometimes it’s about working smarter and not harder. Hacks are the best things in life. They help you get more stuff done in less time. We hope that the hacks above will help you work less and live more.
