Making a million dollars is probably one of the most sought-after goals in an entrepreneur’s lifetime! To be able to say that you have done it all on your own and to know that you have an awesome product. However, there are a whole lot of challenges facing entrepreneurs in this day and age. Here are 9 Challenges you will face when making your first million.
Be active in your own business
If you are not an active member of your own business, then you are already setting yourself up for failure. A start-up business, or even a business poised for growth, does not mean you can be an absentee owner and have someone else run it. If you want your business to succeed, you have to nurture it yourself. Nobody will care about your business more than you. Your dream could be viable, but if you don’t get up and make that dream come true through hard work, then it’s really just a dream.
Stop worrying about what people think of you and your dream
One of the worst things you can do is worry about what everyone else thinks. Their thoughts are only an opinion. Not everyone is going to like you or your business model and business is not a popularity contest. You can’t please everyone all the time, so don’t try. Just keep on moving forward with your plans and make them happen.
Spending time with non-productive people
Don’t spend time with people who won’t help you further your goals. Spend time with your family and the closest friends that truly care about you. Otherwise, if you constantly hang around people who only want to have a good time or are emotionally draining, they will keep you from your dream of making a million dollars. Most likely, they will be a negative influence on you and your goals. It takes hard work and conviction to make that first million. Not parties and basketball.
Don’t blame other people for your problems
One of the first things you learn while running your own business is to not blame everybody else for your shortcomings. It’s hard to steer clear of this, but it is necessary to take ownership of your own problems and mistakes and do what you can to correct them. By diverting all the blame to others, you are shying away from the real issue. You can’t learn from your mistakes if you don’t take ownership of them and then take any action necessary to correct them. Remember, your goals are to make a million dollars, not ask questions about who put that obstacle in front of you, and then waste your time by blaming them for doing it. Get rid of the obstacle yourself and keep moving forward.
Don’t get stuck in the box
Being different from everyone else is the main way to build those millions. You need to be open-minded. Be open to new ideas, ways of doing things, and thought processes. Gaining knowledge about anything and everything has never been so easy. Learn different approaches to things. Think outside of the barrel…I say barrel because I would rather be stuck in a wine barrel, trying to think my way out of that, than stuck in a box. Why would I want to be in a box anyway??
Getting stuck in the same old routine is never a good way to make money. Be proactive and stay knowledgeable. Be aware. Stay focused, but be willing to make changes. A willingness to take calculated risks with your business is one sure-fire way to make money.
Be willing to change
Make concessions from time to time. This keeps your prospects open and your business thriving. Look at the habits you have formed over the years and make changes to the negative ones you have in your life. You should be willing to reflect on yourself. Doing so will give you a way to understand how to approach the things you should change in your life.
Be proud of what you do and who you are. Nobody will take another glance in your direction if you are not proud and positive about yourself. Confidence is another major factor in winning the “game of life”. If you are proud of yourself, others will be proud of you and stand by you.
Learn more and explore your world around you
Learning is a major key to success. Be willing to take criticism and to learn from others. Ask for help when needed. By asking about certain things, you are showing others that you are responsive to them. This keeps the lines of communication open. And that is an awesome thing for anyone’s business.
Know who you are inside and out. Know your core values and what you stand for. Don’t lie, cheat, or steal your way to the top. It might be a long, hard, and even bumpy road, but staying true to yourself and your goals, makes a winner and a millionaire! That makes a great business and a great person overall. Go out there and make your mark on the world!
